At this time of the year, our cherry orchard cover crop is fully grown. A cover crop is a plant that provides benefits to the environment and farmer but is not harvested. Lodi Blooms plants a cover crop in fall to help open up the soil for winter rain and increase soil fertility. Cover crops also provide a habitat for beneficial insects like bees. Within the next week or two, the cover crop will be tilled back into the soil. - James Chinchiolo, Owner
